Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extended clash where the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series averaged 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
