Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.

'Major setback' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems when he left the field on the second morning in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left leg post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and required time away from the action for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The concluding match of the series beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

The visitors have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer to a side strain on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, then making 28 while batting among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back on Saturday morning and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, at the end of the fifth over, he sent down a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission of the third.
