Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
