The striker has joined the Championship side just half a year after instigating insulting taunts targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His seven-year career at Elland Road was ended through agreement this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts while at Leeds included starting offensive songs about Chris Wilder during the club’s success festivities in April. Currently, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to rescue his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Previous Conflict Between the Striker & the Manager

Both men had a past before Leeds won promotion back to the top flight the previous campaign and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as “a muppet” back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion while Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

Everything seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack and Bamford looking to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue at all with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a half-hour chat together and he's a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and take it and that is an integral part of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Challenges

The forward featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the former Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has struggled with injury in recent years.
