The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden championship series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.

"It's incredible for this squad, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, placing him third in history after Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player on planet Earth that I want up in that moment besides him with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.

Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
